Size it by chest and body length, not by weight.
Weight is a bad proxy — a stocky 25lb French Bulldog and a leggy 25lb Whippet are different shapes entirely. Measure around the deepest part of the chest, and from the base of the neck to the base of the tail. Between two sizes, go up: a slightly roomy hammock still works, a tight one doesn't.

Is it safe to hang a dog like this?
The dog's weight sits across the chest and belly, the same way a well-fitted harness carries it — not on the neck or the legs. Keep sessions to a few minutes, stay in the room the whole time, and never leave a dog in it unattended.
My dog panics at everything. Will this make it worse?
Introduce it before you ever bring out clippers. Let them stand in it on the floor, feed treats, take it off. Do that two or three times across a few days so the hammock means snacks, not nails.
What size do I need?
Measure the chest at its deepest point and the body from neck base to tail base. If you're between sizes, size up. Small = toy breeds, Medium = most Frenchies and Beagles, Large = Labs and up.
Where do I hang it?
A door frame, beam, shower rail or a well-anchored hook. It needs to be solid and high enough that the paws clear the floor.
Can I use it for baths or drying?
